Writing My Life

Now and Then

… about me …

I LOVE my life. That makes me very fortunate. And I love to write. I love to write almost as much as I enjoy reading. It’s not that I think I have a lot to say, it’s just that writing substantiates that a person lived here on earth; it shouts that you exist.

I haven’t been good at journaling, although I’ve made numerous attempts. For a long time, I couldn’t figure out why a person who likes to write wouldn’t keep a diary. Recently, I realized that as an audience, I bore myself. I’m egocentric enough to want an expanded readership, and I also think I write more interesting entries if I believe someone is looking over my shoulder at the page/screen before me.

Because I am a “heart on my sleeve” kind of person, I like to chat in person and online. So if you stop by, I hope you will look over my shoulder and enjoy what you read enough to make a comment or click the “like” button.

Thanks for dropping in. rbs

  2. Hello! Saw you stopped by my blog (on my mom’s word) and wanted say thanks!
If you would like to be invited to the attic I would be more than happy to invite you. Just need an email adress so I can add ya.
I would be very interested in your opinion on my work so far in the story. It is always good to have another writer’s opinion. ( just as long as you PROMISE not to let your association with my adorable mom make you feel like you have to be nice. If it sucks, I want to know about it!)
Anyway, don’t feel obligated to join but I would love another critique!
    Thanks!

    • Glad you commented. Don’t get many of those. I’ll email your mom my address so I can read and reflect upon YOUR writing IF you do the same for moi! (=

  3. Dear Henry & Rebecca’s Daughter?
At least, that’s the closest I can come to your name, culled from the band across your website.

I totally agree with you ‘wanting to write’ to leave an imprint on the world. I feel the same. I do write, but no journaling. Would like to follow your blog will leave my contact informmation as requsted.

I like the 50 words concept – I have entered a local 55 words (exactly) contest in a local newspaper and had lots of fun with that.

I know the value/benefits of ‘cut-edit-delete’ and have learned to complete writing assignments within a 350 word maximum word count. Challenging – but achievable and as a writer – it forces you to make every word count.

Hoping to hear from you and begin following your blog.

  4. When I started blogging, a few friends who blogged suggested anonymity, and so I listed my initials rather than my name. The subtitle to my blog is about the only part of the title I don’t change as it is a way to honor my wonderful parents – Henry, who left this life in 2007 and Rebecca, who is sticking around to keep her progeny on their toes!

I am THRILLED you are following my blog, and please call me Renae!

    Take care!

  5. Bernadine – Thanks for the encouragement!!! Seriously, the “anticipating the full inbox” expectation is motivational! =)
