Note: The month is nearly half over, and I’ve written a 50-word story EVERY August day. There’s much I like about experimenting with this format, BUT I don’t know if the exercise is improving my writing any. I guess I’ll see when I return to my “work-in-progress.”
I’m toying with the idea of sponsoring my FIRST-EVER blog contest, but have to come up with a creative AND cheap prize that readers would actually want. Maybe I’ll ask those who stop by my site to vote for the 50-worder they like best, and then randomly choose one of the “entries” as the winner, winner, winner. That’s as far as my thinking has traveled. Stay tuned. I’ll think of something. In the meantime, here is today’s effort.
Multitasking
She tapped out her text – meet u @ mall, k?
The other hand applied lip-liner; and her baby-blues stared into the mirror to oversee the application.
Bright-white teeth chewed the last bite of Egg McMuffin.
Knees steered the wheel, and her left foot slammed on the brake.
Too late.

Yikes!!! That could be about me!! A little ironic to slam into an Apple store — it looks like anyway in the pic. Honestly… has C talked to you about how I drive?? 😉

I chose that photo because it added irony to the 50 words! It was also kind of autobiographical! I’m repenting! =)

I’m impressed just that you’re simply doing this! I cannot seem to keep up this summer! In fact, I read this several days ago and didn’t have enough time to comment then (Hubby calling or something) but I wanted to say I don’t need prompting with a gift to choose my favorite. So far it’s the one that I first commented on, but this one also resonates. I’ll choose later, promise!

Hi Alice – Blogging bribery is really NOT my idea of a good time. It was a passing thought, but I’ve come to my senses. I will ask folks to share their favorite, AND I am challenging readers to create a 50-worder of their own and post it in comments. THAT I would love!
Best of wishes, R.
